KAAH, which is short for the Coalition for
Equality and Advancement of Human Development, has been successfully pursued as
a bottom-up political organization characterized by Somaliland’s various
constituencies. Hashi's leadership is particularly marked by his vision of
creating opportunities for the youth, justice, and good governance. Spectator
turnout at his campaign rallies has reached unprecedented levels, and this has
indicated a change in the people’s attitude towards embracing new political
leadership.
As Somaliland is gearing up for elections on
the backdrop of harrowing political and economic difficulties, KAAH has aligned
itself with opposing factions such as Waddani in order to increase its
capacity. This coalition aims at addressing decades of strife between the communities
and uniting peripheral regions into the nation’s governing structure.
Hashi's speeches on the other hand are those
preaching of oneness and hope hence KAAH has no exclusion. His program is
focused on urgent economic issues, including the stabilization of the economy,
electoral transformation, and the resolution of ethnic conflicts within the
country. As the campaign gains traction KAAH begins to appear as an opposition
party to the ruling Kulmiye party, which might change the political landscape of
Somaliland in a short time.
This election not only represents a test of
leadership but also represents a test of the democratic values of Somaliland.
In any case, the development of KAAH and the rise of Hashi signify the
proportional representation of the citizens’ craving for change and revolution
extreme, whether or not they are given the opportunity to win.
